This Light phase Hawaiian Hawk or Io (Buteo solitarius) was just outside my house in Kapaho Hawaii. It apparently later caught a dove because there were a lot of feathers on the ground. We see this hawk and its mate, a dark phase hawk, flying and perching near our yard.

Before I moved to Hawaii in 2009, I lived for many years in Tucson, Arizona, so I also have plenty to share from my time there as well. My most recent vacation trip was to China in early 2015, and I expect to travel to other interesting places in the future.
